Last week, I had the pleasure of participating in a workshop session organised by the Norwich Business School. A huge thank you to James Gardiner and the entire NBS team for putting together such an insightful event! I would also like to express my gratitude to the speakers who shared their expertise and valuable insights throughout the sessions.
💡 Session 1: Level Up Your Presentations and Communication Skills
By Kieran Miles (Insight IFA)
Presenting effectively is a skill we use every day, whether in formal presentations, elevator pitches, or even casual conversations. One of the key takeaways from this session was the importance of adapting our presentation style to fit the audience.
« Become comfortable being uncomfortable. »
Kieran emphasised that preparation is key, but so is the ability to adjust in real time. He highlighted the power of structuring information around the « Rule of Three »—delivering three key messages to ensure clarity and retention.
For those looking to refine their presentation skills, he recommended reading Talk Like TED and exploring LinkedIn Learning resources on public speaking.
📊 Session 2: Project Management and the Power of Your Team
By Daniel Bradley and Peter Pepper
Project management is essential in all industries, helping businesses optimise resources, meet deadlines, and drive success. This session emphasised why project management matters and how it enhances team collaboration, ensures clear goal-setting, and improves overall efficiency.
» Best project manager: spend money wisely »
The speakers highlighted the importance of stakeholder management, adaptability, and communication, as well as how psychological safety fosters high-performing teams. They also stressed that a lack of communication is one of the biggest reasons why projects fail, making structured reflection and feedback essential.
👉 Thanks to this session, I find myself increasingly interested in project management and its strategic role in organisations.
🤖 Session 3: AI in Action: Tools to support individuals and businesses
Part 1 by Matthew Buskell
Matthew introduced key AI tools such as Notebook LLM or Looker AI.
« The only constraint of AI is our imagination. »
He emphasised the importance of multishot prompting, a technique that enhances AI interactions by refining inputs iteratively, and of AI agents.
Part 2 by John Beer
John explored how businesses must adapt to AI-driven transformations. He emphasised that companies are seeking individuals who can embrace and navigate change effectively.
These workshops have been incredibly valuable, providing me with new perspectives and reinforcing my interest in project management, AI, and business strategy. Looking forward to applying these insights in my future endeavours! 🚀
